Health Disparities Epidemiologist

The Black Hills Center for American Indian Health (BHCAIH) is seeking a well-trained, highly motivated research epidemiologist to join our dynamic community-based, non-profit, research-intensive organization. You will become part of our diverse, engaging program of original health research in partnership with American Indian tribes and communities across the Northern Plains and North America. Our research strategies include clinical, epidemiological, qualitative and policy-focused efforts, centered on cancer epidemiology, cardiovascular disease prevention, tobacco prevention and control and environmental health. The successful candidate will play a key role in the further development of our research program, with opportunities in research proposal development, data analysis and publishing

The candidate must hold a doctoral degree and have a strong background in epidemiology and biostatistics. The candidate will have the potential to establish sustained extramural research funding, publish in peer-reviewed journals, possess leadership qualities, and be able to conduct independent and collaborative research. Candidates will have excellent oral and written skills.

We are located in Rapid City, South Dakota, on the flanks of the beautiful Black Hills, with world-class rock climbing, hiking, biking and skiing in our backyard. The Black Hills region is dynamic and growing, with considerable scientific infrastructure development projected, due in part to the recent designation of the former Homestake Gold Mine in nearby Lead/Deadwood as the site of the United State’s new Deep Underground Science Exploration National Laboratory.
